Mobius Final Fantasy: Fight de Chocobo – The End!

Well, it’s the end for me. I don’t have the jobs or the decks to take on the northwest part of the map. :B

Whoo! Spent a few hours today and unlocked the last 2 paths that I needed to clear the damn event. I’m not even going to try to get the “Complete!” status for Fight de Chocobo because that would most likely require the stats of my jobs to be higher and that will be a looooong time before that happens. Mobius Final Fantasy: More babbles about Fight de Chocobo

In my last post about this special event, I mentioned that Rainbow Feathers from Silver and Gold Chocobos — both which like to keep a low profile and tend to hang around hard difficulty battle sets — were needed to unlock paths to obtain cute little chocobo familiars. It turns out that it isn’t the case for one of them!

After I collected the treasure from the gold chest in the northwest part of the map, a new route appeared with a lock that could be undone with regular chocobo feathers. I was so happy to see that it led to one of the nodes with a cage. ^-^ And I was even more delighted to discover that it was the path to the chocobo chick!

Mobius Final Fantasy - Chocobo Chick get!
Chocobo chick get! Another lock also appeared. Ugh. This one’s to a silver chest though.

The screencap in the lower left corner above shows the requisite amount of chocobo feathers needed to gain access to the chest. :/ The lock to the chocobo chick required 60 so I wasn’t surprised that the next one would ask for even more.

Mobius Final Fantasy - A gold chocobo!
A Gold Chocobo! So shiny~

It may be my luck but Gold Chocobos hardly appear during battles with the regular type. (Its silver cousin shows up quite a bit though.) However, it seems that they’re always lying in wait at a spot with a chest or familiar. *__* I’m unsure of the drop rates but I’m hoping that this means that players are guaranteed at least one Gold Chocobo card (shown above), and if not the card, then at least a Rainbow Feather! Sadly, there aren’t enough of those special nodes that’ll allow anyone to max out the abilities of card as there are only 4 or 5. Also, once you complete the battles there, the nodes revert to being normal ones so encountering another golden bird will no longer be a sure thing.

Mobius Final Fantasy: Fight de Chocobo

Yes, I renamed my nickname to Wark!♪ :B I actually changed it a few days before the event started but it was indeed done in anticipation of it!

I was originally super excited at the thought of being able to obtain little chocobo familiars — and there are 2 available!! — but it turns out that the designers cranked up the annoyance notch a few times for this special event. I guess the PuPu one was deemed too easy? Continue reading “Mobius Final Fantasy: Fight de Chocobo”

Mobius Final Fantasy メビウスファイナルファンタジー 激闘!アダマンタイマイ

Sorry for the terrible audio and video desynchronization. I’m a total amateur when it comes to editing. I have no idea if I even have the right tools and programs to deal with frame drops and such. :/ I’m pretty certain wonky frame rates is why the audio became way out of sync by the time the Adamantoise battle started. .__.

Consider reading my initial impressions about the game! 😀 I also have a ton of screencaps uploaded to my Instagram account. ^^

Actually, It’s About the Ethics of These Mobile Game Companies

This isn’t about issues in journalism. I chose the title because it fits the subject matter of this post. The type of ethics in question, however, is work ethics. I’m mildly miffed that no one else seems to draw attention to the incompetence of Rayark, Inc. in their lack of proofreading text in Implosion – Never Lose Hope, and GCREST with their constant careless updates of CocoPPa Play. I feel strongly about these issues because it makes me wonder why I should support companies (or continue to support in Rayark’s case since I already purchased the game) that half-heartedly work on their games.

Oh, before anyone asks, this game is for both iOS and Android and is currently Japanese-only and region locked to Japan. I was able to download it because I have a Japanese iTunes account.

ポケットナイツ Mini Guide

Note: This mini guide is still in progress and hasn’t been completely proofread yet. I’ll be updating it from time to time.

Disclaimer! I am not fluent in Japanese but I know enough to get by in most games! I feel the need to mention this because there could be translation errors! If you see something is off, please don’t hesitate to correct me in the comments section below. Thanks~! ^-^

Official site: http://www.pocketknights.jp (It hasn’t been updated since 2013 but the game still receives regular updates! ^^)  Oh, about the Android version — it’s region locked to Japan. While you can obtain it through VPN (virtual private networks), I don’t recommend it unless it’s a VPN you can always access since updates come at a fairly frequent rate. Yes, Pocket Knights is one of those games where you can’t play if you’re using an older version of it.

I’ve wanted to write about this for a while but haven’t since I am super lazy. XD There’s also an English guide so I thought that it wasn’t necessary even though it’s out of date. You can find it here: http://sns.atgames.jp/communityTopic/821880?page=1

However, since I need some topic to blog about, I figure an updated look at the game wasn’t a shabby idea to work with. 😀 I’m still pretty lazy though so I’ll only highlight the vital and noteworthy sections. ^^ While that’s probably every menu, I don’t deem things like the ポケナイ掲示板 (Pocket Knights Message Board) necessary to explain.

I’m sorry I skimped on screenshots but I included the Japanese words so matching those with what you see on the screen in-game shouldn’t be that difficult … right? XD

Introduction~!

Pocket Knights, published by Bank of Innovation and developed by GCREST, is a Japanese-only mobile game which features familiar assets from titles like TinierMe, CocoPPa Play, Pocketland, among many other “selfie” games. Its main focus is collecting equipment to dress up your avatar with by way of battling monsters in a painfully simplistic manner; you just tap on the screen as they appear. 9__9 There are also special boss fights and guild battles where you engage in a more traditional roleplaying style of turn-based fights via a selection of available attack commands. If you’ve played Knights of Excalibur, which I dub the English version of Pocket Knights (as it’s also published by Bank of Innovation), then you have an idea of how this title plays.

I won’t be going through the steps of the in-game tutorial that all players go through upon a fresh install of the game. Instead, I’ll just highlight the menus and explain what each of them contain.

Pro tip: Every button with a blue background is an action (such as changing a category) or confirmation while the red background is cancel. BUT! If you see 売却 or any variation with the 売 character in it, it means you are selling!

[Tiny Farm] A Positive Thought on Those Limited Edition Animals

Tiny Farm - Limited Edition Oceanic Bird
This gimmick may be annoying to see but it allows Com2uS to keep the game running.

A lot of Tiny Farm players probably groan at the sight of seeing a notice like the above upon starting up the game. Given the dismal chances of succeeding in meeting those objectives, such a response is expected. After all, considering the rarity of legendary & mythical animals like the Oceanic Bird, players vying for limited edition animals in the short time frame allotted should be prepared to spend a lot of money on event eggs and pray that one of them will hatch the bird. (One can also obtain it through lucky bag draws but it requires longer waits.) I truly wouldn’t be surprised if the success rate of getting one was set to 1%.

As much as these limited time gimmicks are a bane to non-IAP-paying Tiny Farmers, it’s actually not a bad thing that developer, Com2uS, make use of them. I’d like to think that for the duration of the availability of an LE animal, there’s a spending spurt from habitual hardcore money-spenders as well as some gamblers that want to try their luck. This influx of money contributes to keeping this long-running, fan-favourite farming and animal collection simulator going.

So fellow Tiny Farm players, while we despair that we may never get these rare creatures, be glad that we have acquaintances paying Com2uS to maintain the game. :3

Tappity Mobile Gaming Fun!

I’ve been meaning to post about it but never got around to it since the thought of needing to get screenshots of the games seemed like such a chore. I did manage to locate some of them by going through my Instagram and Twitter accounts though. ^^

Anyway, it seems like “clicker” and incremental type games are all the rage these days. The idea is that you rapidly tap on the screen of your device to increase the amount of currency or points or whatever you’re supposed to be getting to unlock a myriad of things that’ll up the rate of growth of the currency or points which continually accumulates automatically. Eventually, it’ll get to a point where the game will play itself and manual intervention is only required to purchase more unlockables.

Why are they so popular if the gameplay is so simplistic? Honestly, I think that’s part of the appeal. The other part of it probably has to do with the fact that the players want to get and max out everything in the game. As for me, I mostly like to watch the numbers grow really big. ^^

I’m going to highlight a few that I enjoyed or still enjoy. 😀 All of them are 100% free (with ads) and in Japanese! They’re very easy to play though!
