[Tiny Farm] 3rd Anniversary Celebration Sheep Event

Sheep chart for 3rd anniversary event~!
Sheep chart for 3rd anniversary event~!

Sorry if this post shows up strange. I’m posting through the iOS WordPress app. Anyway, I completed the event already since I own all the sheep so I nabbed this screencap that shows a completed chart~! The heart between sheep indicates which sheep to breed to get the ones in the next generation.

I’m not sure 2 weeks will be enough for those that weren’t around for all the types of sheep that were part of special events because getting the 2nd and 3rd tiers all filled requires a ton of hearts and gold. I suppose it’s one way to get players to buy gold and Bells. :B

Oh, here’s the cutie lamb for all your troubles~!

Tiny Farm: Uncute, Ugly Animals

Before anyone starts raging about my selection, let me remind you that this is all opinion. It’s only natural that what I consider cute or ugly won’t be the same as someone else’s idea of cute or ugly.

I’ve been meaning to do this post for a while but have been lazy when it comes to screencapturing and editing the images. Well, here they are! XD These are my picks of ugly and mildly uncute animals from Com2uS’ Tiny Farm. The percentages below the animals indicates how many of those types I have in possession.

Among the types of animals shown above, there are some exceptions like these. ^^~ They’re not oozing of cute but they’re not as hard on the eyes as the others. (The Fat Cat has a medal next to it since I’ve maxed out its Mastery gauge.)

Finally, some of the Legendary Animals fall under the eew category too such as the pegasus and heavenly unicorn. The dragon’s kind of meh as well though.

So why are they ugly to me? I think it mostly has to do with their eyes. I love cartoon animals (and even plush toys) that are chubby, fluffy, and have beady, dotty-eyes. ^^

For example! Tiny Farm sheep are super cute … unless you count the basic adult sheep which look kind of weird. (See first screencap here.) But these adolescent types are adorable~!

These bears are another example~!

They’re already cute without clothing but their costumes make them even cuter. ^o^~

I didn’t include the bearded pigs, boars, or hamsphires since they’re all right in my book. I definitely like them more than butt ugly unicorns.

…. I forgot to screencapture the fish. .____. I really wish they could get a makeover since so many of them really don’t fit the cute theme of the game. 😦

Speaking about makeovers, Tiny Farm held an election a few weeks ago and one of the candidates was a bearded pig whose campaign was all about revising designs for unpopular animals. The other two candidates were a unicorn vying to keep things as is (I think? I can’t remember) and a cute little bird that chirped about bringing MORE cute animals to Tiny Farm.

The bearded pig won. :E I’m not sure what Com2uS has in mind or what their staff consider uncute but I’m hoping there’s some sort of voting system for players before they roll out new designs because I’d vote the hell out of that gross donkey.

Honestly, Com2uS has so much they can do with Tiny Farm such as opening up that last map area. I could seriously use the space since animal certificates are so costly for every map I have right now. But I guess designing a whole new section takes a lot of time. Then again, maybe if they’d stop constantly generating new animal sets they could focus more on it? I suppose from their point of view, they have to keep putting out something new every week or two to keep the game fresh. The thing is, there are already SO MANY ANIMALS to collect. It won’t kill them to take a breather once in a while so players can “catch up”.

It’s a good thing they’re expanding storage space with every few updates as I need to keep putting away older animals to try and accommodate the newcomers but I’d really like to see them finish up some older collections. 😐 There are still a bunch of Heroic Animals that have yet to visit Tiny Farm after all.

Boy, I totally went off on a tangent there. Well, there’s not much to say about unappealing animals other than to show them and kind of explain why they don’t click with me. ^^

Tiny Farm: Fix your inventory, Com2uS!

Edit on September 4th, 2014: Com2uS actually revised the inventory system an update or two ago so this post is no longer relevant. However, I’m keeping it here just to show folks that infinite scrolling is a really terrible design.

Phew. It’s been a while since I wrote up an entry on Tiny Farm. I’m still playing it because I love collecting the super cute animals. I just wish animal certificates weren’t so expensive. I’ve long exhausted the ability to buy them with gold. Have to rely on Bells now. 😦

Anyway, Tiny Farm received a massive overhaul a few weeks ago. Oddly, the ONLY revision the inventory UI received was reduced icon sizes so now each page has 2 lines of items instead of a single one. While that reduces the amount of scrolling one had to endure, it still means A LOT of scrolling for someone like me that has tons of things in storage. Sure, I can sell stuff like fences and rebuy them but why would I? Why should I have to? I’d rather save the money to spend on other things like the unnecessarily expensive lottery draw events.

I recorded the video on my iPad mini with Retina to show how idiotic the inventory design is. In it, you will see that I have to scroll forever to find the freakin’ Yellow Lotus Lantern that was automatically placed in inventory after claiming it from the gift area. I know I zoom past it in the initial scroll-by but it’s just to show that it doesn’t pop up at the end like what other sadistic developers may do with new things you get. At least that would make some sort of sense. This lantern showed up on page 7 or so.

The video was originally longer to show that every single item I have in the gift area is subject to the same random treatment but I decided just showing the lantern was enough.

So what can be done to improve the damnable design? Here are my suggestions:

  • ALL new items/animals you get should appear at the BEGINNING of your inventory.
  • Additional tabs on the side to sort between plants/trees, fences, and decorations just like in the freakin’ Store page.
  • Some ability to manually input a search string to look for something.

I wonder if there’s something in the code that’ll make these additions extremely difficult to implement? There’s no reason such logical ideas haven’t found their way into the game yet. It’s been over TWO YEARS since Tiny Farm debuted. Inventories will only get larger over time. >:/

I might fire off a message to Com2uS about this. A few weeks ago, I complained about the simplicity of the Com2uS Hub to them such as the inability to easily locate one’s post and the lack of a search function (for keywords and users) so what’s another complaint? XD They can make pretty looking games but they sure can’t seem to create intuitive user interfaces. The Hub is SO backwater it’s not funny. The way it functions is like a message forum from a few decades ago. 9__9

Potpourri Post: Healthy Living & New iOS Games

About Life~!

Just a follow up to the post I made back in December where I wrote about some health issues I have namely high blood pressure and an enlarge thyroid gland. Well, the ultrasound lab results for the latter showed negative so the family doctor still doesn’t know what the cause is but, as I mentioned before, the thyroid is still working as it’s supposed to so he’s suggested to do a check up on it every few months or so.

The blood pressure bit’s not really changed. But it could be because I’m not following the DASH diet to a T. ^^ In fact, I’ve been eating more meat than I should. 😦  The good thing is that I HAVE definitely lost weight. The problem is reducing it further. It’s currently hovering at a point that’s about 6 – 7 pounds less than I used to be at. But there were several days where it was even at lower than that. I suspect the recent intake of white rice and meat (and trying to eat as much as of the homemade loaf of bread as fast as possible) contributed to that.

Anyway, the good thing is that the there hasn’t been any drastic change in blood pressure. I just wish it would show lower values though consider weight loss has happened! But since my hypertension could be something I inherited from my mom, I sometimes wonder if it’ll ever go down. :/

Now for the happier things!

My iOS games

This is one of my most useless and spontaneous posts. I just took screenshots of the folders on my games home screen for the heck of things as an excuse to update this blog.

Here they are.

Honestly, I could probably uninstall literally 70% of them since I only play a handful. ^^ Oh, before I forget to mention, my iPad mini is jailbroken which is why I can cram so many more icons into a single folder than normal. 😛 For what it’s worth, I’m using FolderEnhancer to achieve that.

Actually, let’s add some substance! I’ll list and write about the ones that I actually load up and spend quality time with these days. Sadly, not all of them are really considered worthwhile. XD

[Tiny Farm] They’re Fruity (but Maybe Not So Delicious)!

I’m sorry that I’ve been slow to update on Tiny Farm events. Last two were really straight-forward so I didn’t bother. ^^; So how’s everyone doing with the current one? Did you get all your fruit-themed animals yet? 😀 Out of sheer luck, I got all of them simply from breeding the corresponding animal types; I just got the Apple Duck this morning which completed the set~!
