My high score on iOS was 798,218. The biggest factor that contributed to this huge jump in clear points is the fact that I figured out how to keep monthly profits high (like above $3 million. Later on, it was above $5 million). Well, I figured it out midway though but even then I didn’t do enough to push for better results.
Of course, the economy and the appearance of rival malls also played a role in limiting how much the mall could have made. The game hit me with a depression and recession and also threw a few malls at me to deal with. 9__9
In fact, that stupid mall you see in the screenshot above appeared in the first month of Y15. It’s STILL there even after the game “ended”. Originally, it had 80% of the Residential folks and 50-some% of everything else. I actually had to restart the game a few times until I got a rival mall like this. Most of the ones the system churned out had a much higher share ratio.
Well, I’m done playing the game on my Galaxy Tab 10.1. It was incredibly annoying and borderline infuriating due to the constant slowdowns which forced me to exit out and load up the game again. I must have did this at least 50 times.
Oh yeah, here’s another pic of mob of customers. XD This time, they’re in front of the Cinema! This set-up is actually one that I regret keeping since I didn’t notice till late that the Aquarium had a much higher product selling price than the Cinema. So, to me, the ideal set up next to a Helipad would have been the Casino and then the Holiday combo (Planeterium + Museum + Aquarium).
Bah. Can’t remove this image out of the gallery at the top. .__.
When I played my second playthrough on the iPod touch, I actually managed to get to a 5 star rank in year 5 as I was applying to rank up each year since Y1.
I’m playing a little differently this time in that I’m gunning to get regular customers first over comboing and investing. For investing, I typically don’t put any more money in until over half the people in a specific area are regular customers. :3 It’s working well so far since I think over 90% of people wandering into the mall are regulars now.
I also already fought off 2 rival malls. Neither of them lasted over 2 months. :3 I was actually surprised to encounter them so early in the game! The first one came while I was still at 4-star rank.
Anyway, it seems ideal to put large stores (that take up 3 squares like a Supermarket) near entrance areas or close to escalators and stairs since customers generally head to those first or at some point before a month ends. They also tend to have more stock, I think, which means more people buying before stock runs out.
I still kind of suck in obtaining hearts but since many people swarm the Customer Service desk on B1F nowadays (see screenshot above), it’s not that bad! I think I only have 2 or 3 more plans to buy. 😀
I’m hoping to beat my score from the iOS version where I got 788,322 on the second gameplay. I’m hoping to see something close to 1 million points! Not sure I can do it though but I’m gonna try. ^^
I bought Mega Mall Story. Again. But this time, it was from the Android Market for my Galaxy Tab 10.1. I’m so glad to see pinching/multi-touch/zooming is stable this time around! I really hope that this means that Kairosoft will be going back and fixing the force close problem their other games and that it’s not some one-time deal.
I’m taking it slow and trying a different way of playing. This actually marks my third playthrough, I think. (I had one game in each save slot on iOS. :3)
I’m having trouble getting hearts though. I hired some guy that upped the quality of Food stores and had +30 for Attention and Service for my floors 1 – 4. Given that the majority of stores are food-related, I think it was the natural choice. I just wish he’d chase after customers and bow at them so that they could spew out hearts. Ah well.
I don’t think I’ve ever gotten 1 million in capital so early in the game before. Shoving the Supermarket onto1F seemed like a good investment since it has more stock quantity than the smaller stores. This means that more people will be able to buy more before the store runs out.
Anyway, random screens! (The graphics are no frills since I have to leave the Priority setting as Performance. If I choose Graphics, the game will run at like 5 frames per second or something.)
