ACNL – Open House & Bitching about Snow People and Pavé (Spoilers?)

Guh. Haven’t posted in forever.  Let’s start off with this then!

The official ACNL Twitter account has this open house thing going where you share screenshots of your home. Since it’s difficult to take a picture of any room in its entirety, I offer an alternative by giving y’all my dream addresses. Of course, only those with the Dream Suite can visit. ^^;

Anyway, here they are:

I have most of my dream townsanimals now between the two games along with some sweeties that I don’t want to move out like Felicity and Savannah from my main one. Eventually, I’ll have Marina, Agent S, and Graham migrate over to it though but that means I’ll have to give up some of the ones that have grown on me. 😦 Of course, I can always move them to the second town too. However, that one is eternally underdeveloped so I’d feel kind of bad. XD

ACNL – The HHA Theme Challenge

Huh. I thought I would be able to score much higher than 635,000 the day after I chose to try the antique theme. I did a count and I’m pretty sure I had at least 15 themed items in both of the rooms that I chose to outfit for the challenge.

In one room, I had the complete rococo set and the other one had some regal stuff but since the daily essentials bonus are counted only once, there was no point in throwing in another full set. (Actually, I still have the rococo and regal furniture because I won’t give up until I get maximum points.) But that’s where I have some questions. 😡

In Liquefy’s guide, it lists several series that are antique themed. I’m assuming that I DO NOT need all parts of those furniture sets for the game to register the items being in the room.

I also wonder whether mannequins are ignored or not because that score seems kind of off. :\ I had mannequins in the royal outfit, Hero attire, and the knight’s helm, armor, and armor shoes. I’ve since removed the clothing and just put them around the room instead.

I know I have 3 exterior reforms for sure but I thought I had 4. 😦 It’s because I think I got the wrong roof. I didn’t realize there were more than one black-coloured rooftop. ^^;

I take it the vases are counted as a set? :\ Well, regardless of whether the 3 of them are counted with the lower point calculation or not (i.e. the one from the regular HHA evaluation), I still have over 8 items in each room. If I still don’t break 1.1 million tomorrow, I’ll cram even MORE things into them since there are still a lot of things I can buy from the catalogue and even the HHA showcase.

For the exterior, I have the fancy exterior, fancy fence, and arched door. The mailbox is zen so it’s not counted and I just ordered the golden roof today. The type of home is a zen castle but I can’t see anything in the guide or other guides that design matters.

Here’s hoping I’ll surpass the 1 million mark tomorrow. 😡

Edit on September 18th: Wooooo! 😀 Seems like removing the mannequins and getting the golden roof did the trick! Well, I also added about 6 more items between both rooms.

ACNL – The Trend on Moving In the 9th Resident

This is something that I observed from the millions of resets I did with the new character trick. I’m pretty certain I’m not the first to write about it though!

I’m not entirely sure how it works with 10 townspeople but with 9, there is definitely something going on in how the game moves in animals.

Here’s my original list of residents in my second town that I use primarily as a base for my wish list characters: Dora, Robin, Nate, Walt, and Agent S. Hippeux, Pierce, Hazel, and Blaire moved in to complete the last 4 spots. Blaire was actually a camper that I convinced to move in. Sadly, aside from Agent S, Hazel, and Blaire, I’ve yet to get the other ones I want. 😦

Anyway, Hazel (an uchi type) was the first to move out. I make note of her personality since it seems to be the determinant for “natural” move-ins (as opposed to ones that you invite from other towns yourself). Edit on September 30th: It seems that residents gained from StreetPass bypass this trend too. :/

I didn’t really start noticing a pattern until after Hippeux (a smug type) moved out. Basically, the game absolutely REFUSED to give me any other personality type OTHER THAN uchi. It seriously cycled through almost all the uchi characters. I eventually settled on Mira.

Not long after, Pierce (a jock type) moved out and when I began resetting to find a character I wanted, the game continuously threw smug animals at me. I was hoping to get Graham this way but I accidentally loaded up the game with my mayor and ended up with Ken. 9__9 He seems cool though so I don’t mind.

Dora is the most recent resident to leave. Since a jock left before her, I expect that the next batch the game will be cycling in are of that type.

And it is.

So far, it’s given me Rory and Stinky.

To sum it up —  the trend for moving in is based on the personality type of the animal that left previously. Or “second last”. Here’s my experience based on the above:

  1. Uchi character left
  2. … can’t remember if it was giving me a certain type but I ended up with ugly Chrissy who’s a peppy type.
  3. Smug character left
  4. Uchi character is moved in by the game.
  5. Jock character left
  6. Smug character is moved in by the game.
  7. Normal character left
  8. Jock character will be moved in by game.

Going by this, after a jock settles in, a normal character will be the next immigrant to my town. :3 As for campers, they don’t seem to follow a trend as I’ve gotten 2 peppy, 1 smug, and 1 lazy so far.

Being able to predict the personality of the next animal to move in is kind of fun because I’ve actually started making a list of the characters I wouldn’t mind from each personality group. XD

For jocks, I’ve selected Hamlet, Poncho, Scoot, Cousteau, and Buck. ^.^ And for the impending normal one moving in, I got my eyes out for Flurry, Kitt, Marina, Merengue, Poppy, and Maple.

Sifting for a character you want is an insanely time-consuming process. I should be happy with whoever moves in — and considering the purpose of this particular town, I shouldn’t even care so much — but there are some seriously hideous designs … like Chrissy. >___< She ended up as a resident because I got lazy and didn’t do another run around the town with a new character before starting the save file with the mayor. I do not like her design since it looks like it was done by someone that failed miserably at drawing an anime-style face. >_>

Woo! Just spotted a plot of land for Poncho! I’m calling it for the night. ^^ His location is quite a ways from the other residents though. I’ve never seen the game put someone so high up on the map for this town! Everyone is either in the south or the west. :0 So strange~!

ACNL – The Badge of Rassilon

I have no excuse for why I haven’t been posting at this blog other than the fact that I’m lazy. I also got into the mindset that I had to do a featured image each time I made a post but then I remembered that I changed themes. 😛 To make up for the lengthy hiatus, I will write a massive post! XD

Anyway, a whole lot has happened in New Leaf since my last post! Actually, some of it can be found at AdeptGamer: http://adeptgamer.com/forum/threads/nintendo-3ds-animal-crossing-new-leaf.780/ I do have to admit it’s kind of goofy updating all the going-ons at a forum rather than this blog. ^^;

Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Obsessed with Do-overs

Shampoodle opened up in my town not so long ago and I’ve been visiting it everyday since it did. It was mainly so I could get the option to have male style haircuts. :3 But aside from constantly changing my hair, I also change clothes almost every single day; like in real life! I found many beautiful custom designs made by fellow ACNL players and ended up mostly choosing those over any clothing combinations I could make in the game. Of course, there were days where I just threw on stuff that I purchased from Able Sisters or received as gifts from townspeople. 😀

Anyway, I went through about 7 folders from the SD cart and managed to dig up these screencaps. 😀 I may have missed one or two days though. :(!

Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Go away, Claudia

Just like a good chunk of the video gaming community, I’ve immersed myself in Animal Crossing: New Leaf (ACNL). I really didn’t know what to expect since this is my first AC game. I pretty much got it due to the fact that many of my friends were playing it too. ^^ It turns out New Leaf  is pretty fun! The biggest surprise I got from it is that I learned that it requires a long-term commitment. I mean, sure, I can probably just not bother playing the game for a few days or months but that would mean that my town would turn into some desolate, weed-infested junk land where no one would want to live in. 😦 Heck, even I wouldn’t want to return to it then. At that point in time, I probably wouldn’t even bother playing ACNL ever again.
