Tiny Farm: Forever Incomplete Collections

In 2013, Com2uS, the game’s developer, introduced the Heroic Animals. They’re the fifth and final animal needed to complete a regular (re: not event-specific) collection. Unfortunately, even after 4 years, only 14 out of the 60 collections waiting for a Heroic type can be completed.

Tiny Farm - Rabbit Collection
These bunnies have been around since the beginning of the game 5 years ago and, like many collections, are still missing their Heroic companion.

For some reason, there are also these impossible achievements that no one can fulfill because the requisite fifth animal doesn’t exist:

Tiny Farm - Rabbits and Hare Achievement
Collect them all … somehow!
Tiny Farm - Cat and Dog Achievement
Imaginary cats and dogs are needed for this.

Perhaps they’ll eventually be doable but it would be nice if they could remove these in the meantime. 😛

I believe Com2uS didn’t consider the bigger picture when they created the Heroic Animals since, unlike the typical ones that just roam around the map or fill speech balloons popping up above their heads with inane statements, they possess skills that can usually help gameplay aspects such as allowing animals to instantly level up or increasing the chances of successfully obtaining a higher tier animal through breeding.

Inserting a bit of a tangent here: There’s one oddity among the Heroic types. The Heroic Bearded Pig, also known as The Crazy Doctor, can actually harm crop efficiency by tacking on a negative percentage value to crops causing the player to lose out on profit and experience. Thankfully, its skill effect can be cancelled before any damage can be done. However, this would mean that the player wasted Hearts on the Heroic Bearded Pig for nothing. 😐

It could be my luck but I do end up with the negative result more often than the positive one. :/ Unless you have Hearts to spare, I advise against gambling on this nutty pig.

Here’s an image of it, by the way. 😀

Tiny Farm - Heroic Bearded Pig
One of my favourite heroic animal designs, but it also has one of the most annoying skills.

Anyway, new  Heroic Animals used to come out on a consistent basis, but it’s not surprising that this stopped a few years ago. After all, it takes time to think up useful abilities that will keep the game in balance. Still, this lull feels rather lengthy. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt since they did eventually come up with third dog for the Dog collection years after the first and second ones. (It’ll probably take another couple of years before the Talking Dog shows up. :P)

In the interim, Com2uS has opted to keep churning out new limited time and event-based collections with increasingly insidious money-making ways.

NieR: Automata Post-Game Reflections

Please note that the above is not representative of the gameplay; you DON’T need to ride on a boar to fight these enemies. XD This is also not related to the main story so it’s not a spoiler.

I ended up doing this since I was looking for new ways to amuse myself. After all, I already completed all story endings and nabbed a ton of other endings by this time. 😀

My experience with the Drakengard-NieR series consists of all but the first Drakengard game. However, I didn’t complete every ending for any of them. Here’s what happened:

Drakengard 2: Fucking egg boss. The camera controls and flight mechanics already sucked and this bloody battle relied on those two things. -__-

Drakengard 3: Fucking unforgiving rhythm game. This was a troll battle.

NIER: I could have completed the last ending but I didn’t want to go through with it since I had an emotional attachment to the game at the time. 😛

Truthfully, I don’t remember many story-related things in details; just bits and pieces here and there as well as some characters and their motives. I went through NieR: Automata wondering about a lot of things that were covered in NIER, but didn’t look them up until I finished the last ending so I wouldn’t spoil myself.

Anyway, I wanted to establish that I’m somewhat familiar with the universe and didn’t go into Automata blind. Although it’s not necessary, I would suggest people play through NIER first since all the references will have that much  more impact.

The Positive Things

  • Great soundtrack. It’s totally got the style of the NIER soundtrack. Same composer so it’s not a surprise (but he also did Drakengard 3 and I can’t recall a single track from that game …) There are also 8-bit variants of some tunes!
  • Fun combat. I appreciated that the window for perfect evades was huge. I’m usually pretty terrible at timing them. ^^ Couldn’t pull them off for the life of me in Bayonetta, for example.
  • Creative and fun boss fights.
  • There are quite a few quests that, if you missed them the first time around, you can get them again once you unlock the option to select chapters.
  • Some of the non-story endings are amusing like the bunker one. ^^
  • Bullet hell. Or more specifically, the fun hacking mini games. ^^~

The Negative Things

  • The game is short if you don’t do side quests. I clocked in over 60 hours, but that’s from completing 55 out of 60 side quests, all endings except one, lots of exploring and killing, and getting lost a few times in a dungeon AND in the machine village. 9__9 I’m certain many players can do all that under 60 hours though. ^^; Oh, there’s this site that has some data from a handful of players: https://howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=38029
  • Not entirely a negative thing but I didn’t really like how we could access side quests with enemies that were about 30 levels above. The battle was doable but it would take eons to finish and one false move would mean death. ^^ (I died by a 2-hit combo. ^^;) I’m not even talking about the optional/secret boss fights. Of course, there are players that like that sort of challenge. I just feel it should be locked out until later on. 😡 Also, I fought almost everything in my path so it’s not like I was underlevelled story-wise.
  • Inaccessible areas. 😛 People are hypothesizing that they’ll be available in future DLC, but I also read that Yoko Taro just likes to troll players so who knows?
  • The marker for the side quest “Machine Examination”. It’s on the fucking machine itself but the actual trigger is on the broken block of concrete in front of it. I suppose it should have been obvious since 9S says something if you stand on the edge of the thing. I just didn’t figure we’d have to hit the interaction button to start the quest. 😐
  • Marking this as a negative since resetting the ENTIRE set of actions is kind of stupid: If you have ever jumped to another chapter at any point — this option is unlocked after a subsequent playthrough —  you will be locked out of the doors leading to the optional boss’ home. In order to open them, you have to speak to the character again. If you want to fight him, you’ll have to steal his belongings once more. The game will state that the quantity for the items have been exceeded, but it’ll still count as successfully taking them.

Now it’s time for spoilers! 😀

Tiny Farm Village Scores

Update on April 30th, 2017: As of version 4.6.0, there are far more ways to obtain Village Points than what’s listed below. Please refer to the “Village Point” button on the screen that shows Weekly Village and Individual Daily Goals for a list, or the new FAQ accessed through the Notice/News section in-game.

It’s been a long time since I’ve written about Tiny Farm. I tweet about it now and then though, especially when I have screenshots to post. 😀

There’s really not much to talk about since most things are straightforward, but there’s something I noticed in the village I was previously a part of — it seemed like some members didn’t know how to accumulate Village Scores. :/

In that village, we never made the Weekly Village Goal. There was only about 7 or so members and I think 2 of them weren’t around most of the time. :/ Active members would have had to come up with about 1,000 points each and I don’t think anyone ever got past 600. The majority didn’t even complete the Individual Daily Goal.

In contrast, the current village I’m in blows past the weekly goal with ease since most members meet the their daily goals.

So what are the ways to build up Village Score points? The question mark next to the Weekly Village Goal header in the image above provides a breakdown. Otherwise, a general list can be found in the Village FAQ that can be accessed through the Notice button.

Here’s the screencap of the details found in the Village FAQ:

January Potpourri: Games

Wow. It’s been a while since I last posted. It’s mainly because I have trouble thinking about topics I want to spend time writing about. I suppose serial tweeting things that could be topics doesn’t help matters. 😛 Guess I’ll just write about whatever comes to mind. :3

Watch out though — a wall of text is incoming. XD

Mobius Final Fantasy

For everyone following this blog because of Mobius Final Fantasy — I’m sorry but I most likely won’t be writing much about the game anymore as I’ve lost interest in it.

Final Fantasy XV: Moogle Chocobo Carnival

I’m guessing this place is some magical dream that also allows you to take things back to the real (in-game) world? XD After all, only Noctis could participate in the festivities.

I’m disappointed in the prizes we can exchange medallions for. I suppose it’s not a bad option for people looking to stock up on food materials or to get the items needed to upgrade weapons. I may have done the former if there were more mini games to choose from. The best parts of the carnival was the Whack-a-Cactuar and fishing. 😛

I completed the quests with the chocobo chicks (I spent a good hour total looking for my 15th baby chocobo), moogles, park decorating riddles, got all fishing prizes except the reel, and got some bonus photo challenges. The waiter mini game, target shooting, and chocobo racing don’t interest me. I did try them out though.

If they’re going to do another event like this, I really hope it won’t be in Altissia. I still hate navigating the bloody city. >:| But at least Noctis could point warp and Carbuncle allowed fast travel so it was less painful than usual.

Also, those fishing rod and reel prizes should have been carnival-themed skins instead. Is it even possible to get the top prize without having a stronger rod than the prize itself?

Tap Titans 2

A mindless clicker/tapping/incremental free-to-play mobile game. I inherited a clan from the player that created it recently. I assume he was too busy to play. We were stuck at clan quest 9 for a while but after removing inactive members and changing the clan description to include rules and expectations, we finally managed to get some team work going that allowed us to fly through clan quests 9 to 16.

Incidentally, in any game with guilds and clans, if you’re not planning to put some effort into contributing to the group somehow, please don’t join. Similarly, if you’re doing it simply for a “join a clan” achievement, just leave after you get it.

Anyway, here are just a few things that bother me about clans:

  • The weekly clan quest participation counter resets based on local time. I wish the developer would use UTC as the standard instead. Perhaps midnight UTC or something.
  • Players joining another clan retain their participation count from their previous clan. It would be better if they started back at 0 since their past efforts mean nothing in the current clan.
  • Clan names can’t be changed. At least it’s not giving me the option to. :\
  • Not about clan design but, on iOS, there is no notification that a clan quest is available in the notification center or lock screen. :\

Unrelated to clans: Despite all the bug fixes the game has undergone, it still abruptly terminates if I try to watch an ad. Sometimes it even crashes after I watch one. I’ve already written to Game Hive about the issue and they replied saying that it’s device-related. 😦 I’m using an iPad mini 2, for what it’s worth.

Endless Frontier

Another pretty mindless incremental mobile game. 😀 It’s also free-to-play. What I like most about it is that the developer hands out  premium currency like free food and you can also earn it easily as well. But like all F2P games, unless you’re whaling, buying premium items should be done in moderation.

Premium buffs for things like 3x game speed and permanent skill upgrades cost 100 , 500, or 700 gems. The more expensive offerings are evolving and buying units; their price tags are in the thousands.

If you’re into the PvP battles, gems will be spent cycling through opponents to find some that you can actually win against. Each cycle costs 3 gems but you win 10 gems after defeating the other team.

Despite the need for premium currency everywhere, I’ve yet to hit any pay wall and game progress is rather smooth and painless. With each revival, my little army of elves, undead, humans, and orcs progress further than their last run. 😀 However, I anticipate a bit of a “slow down” since unit enhancement is requiring a lot of medals now. :\ (Er, there are 5 currencies in the game but only gems can be purchased. Everything else is earned, won, or given by the developer as special bonuses.)

I can’t comment guilds or guild wars as I only joined one for 5 minutes and didn’t know what I was doing. XD The instructions are not thorough enough. I suppose I could have asked fellow members though.

Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate

This is my current video game love. Typical Musou cheese, but it’s fun getting to alternate between three characters in battle. My permanent team consists of Wang Yuanji, Kaguya, and Seimei Abe. XD I loved Wang Yuanji in Dynasty Warriors 7 & 8. Used her to death in both games. I also loved using Sima Shi in them as well but his crowd control relies too much on combos with strong attacks. 😐 The three I’m using can destroy mobs with regular attacks so I don’t need to worry about when to hit the triangle button. Yes, I’m going through the game on Normal difficulty. :3

The weapons system is also pretty fun to work with. I still feel that Freedom Wars should have done a similar weapons upgrade and customization system instead of the idiotic piece of shit the developer came up with.

In terms of game progress, I just finished the second ending last night … which unlocked new stages. X_X I do wish the game were shorter since there are still battles in chapters 5 – 8 to unlock. ^^;

I wonder if there will ever be Warriors game for the Final Fantasy franchise? 😡

Oh, one complaint about WO3 — there are hardly any variations on missions and they’re all KO-based. Considering there’s a weapon attribute that can prolong combos, why not have combo-related ones too? :\

More random babblings under the cut. Well, more like just answers to a video game-themed questionnaire that’s been circling on Twitter lately. Continue reading “January Potpourri: Games”

Thoughts on Final Fantasy XV

Edit on December 15th: More screencaps and random babblings added. 😀

Final Fantasy XV - Certificate of Completion
Yeah, play time and level are kind of high but I was determined to milk the game. I still have a ton of hunts to do. 😐
Final Fantasy XV - Yay Platinum
Yay Platinum~
Final Fantasy XV - Certificate of Completion #2
Got my 100 hours done! XD This black chocobo chick is too precious. *^_^*

General thoughts:

  • The gameplay, especially the battle system, is fun.
    .
  • English voice acting is mostly good. English Gladio versus Japanese Gladio is a huge difference. With the JP one, he had a more expressive tone. English Gladio was more robotic. ^^ I prefer the former.
    .
  • The story’s all right. I’ve experienced worse such as Star Ocean: Till the End of Time and Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits.
    .
  • I didn’t mind the game being linear/on rails after Chapter 9, but Chapter 13 dragged on for eternity.
    .
  • Wait Mode is great for the extra moment needed to find a part to target. ^^ I suppose the same could be achieved by simply doing a point warp and then target-cycle from there though.
    .
  • Walking or jogging around towns and cities was annoying. I took to jumping around since it seemed like Noctis moved faster that way, but doing that in Altissia during the day was even more annoying since there were so many “Check” spots. (The jumping would get interrupted frequently.)
    .
  • The country(?) of Accordo looks rather large! I was disappointed that we could only explore Altissia. Hopefully, some DLC will allow players to journey off the water city.
    .
  • I hated navigating around Altissia. Maybe it’s just me but I had to stop every few steps to look at the map to make sure I was heading in the right direction.
    .
  • Cactuar encounters are too freakin’ rare. :\ I was hoping to farm some to get more Oracle Ascension Coins so I could trade them in for a Ribbon but … ugh. I kind of regret not doing it earlier in the game since now Imperials drop in every minute or so while I run around waiting for one cactuar to respawn. 😛 Seriously, the rate of Magitek jerks appearing is pretty damn high. I wouldn’t mind them too much if Assassins never dropped.
    .
  • I hoped that being higher levelled meant having an easier time dealing with the daemons that popped up at night, but the game decided to toss in a level 99 Magitek mech post-story. 9__9 My level 60+ party only did like 10 – 15 HP of damage to it. But that may have been without any buffs. Still, I doubt the damage would have been much higher with an attack enhancing buff. Also, 1 hit from a missile put Noctis into the Danger phase. :E
    .
  • Is it just me or is it a pain to land the Regalia-F? I always try to find roads that aren’t windy but by the time I get the car close enough to land, I’m already at a part where the road bends. 😛 Once I tried taking off and the vehicle immediately burst into flames. I think I hit a railing or something? I’m not even sure.
    .
  • I found it interesting that radio broadcasts had story-related tidbits in them. They’re not vital but give you a little bit more insight on certain plot-related things though. You can keep turning a radio on and off to cycle through commercials and news.
    .
  • Fishing is fun. Totomostro is fun too. ^^~ Justice Monsters V … not so much.

Random screenshots~!

I have more at my Twitter account along with video snippets of silly things. ^^ They can be found from November 29th to December 9th. I’m not done with the game though so there will probably be more screencaps and vids after that time range! XD

Now for S P O I L E R S! :E Actually, it’s more like a bunch of questions. ^^ Continue reading “Thoughts on Final Fantasy XV”

Mobius Final Fantasy and FFXV Judgment Disc demo

I’d like to apologize to everyone coming to my blog looking for advice or information about Mobius FF jobs, ability cards and/or deck configurations. I don’t provide them because I’m not the type that analyzes their worth and I’m definitely not someone that can come up with “a good deck” for any occasion. ^^

My gameplay style is conservative & defensive and I always play to survive rather than for quick and efficient killing.

You can try web sites like the Mobius Final Fantasy wiki at Gamepedia or Reddit. There are lots of informed players, threads, and articles that give great advice. ^^~

Incidentally, I won’t be doing a write up of the JP content for December. Here’s a summary of the Japanese Square Enix Presents stream from a few days ago on Altema instead: http://altema.jp/ffmobius/namahousou24-24874

I still think the writer erroneously refers to the Cloud skin as a job. It will not have its own stats. Instead, you apply it to a Warrior job and you end up getting a Wol that looks like Cloud + an Ultimate that’s exclusive to the skin.

Anyway, here’s the meat of the post 😀

Mobius Final Fantasy JP – A Troublesome Job Quest for the Mage and Mini Annoyances in Chapter 6 Part 2

Mobius Final Fantasy - Mage Job Quest 5
I’m stuck here. :/ The objective is to defeat 6 enemies with Ultimates.
Mobius Final Fantasy - Mage Job Quest 5
I’ve managed to defeat 4 enemies and finishing the Naughty(?) Atomos (ノーティアトモス) will make it 5.
Mobius Final Fantasy - Mage Job Quest 5
The Mighty Golem is the last enemy and it’s always a problem due to its Barrier buff. I do my best to reduce its HP but …
Mobius Final Fantasy - Mage Job Quest 5
Sigh.

I believe this was my third attempt at this. I don’t ever die but it really looks like I’m going to need to change my strategy and defeat another enemy within the first two battles so I won’t have to rely on the final one. :V

The mission isn’t exactly difficult; it’s mostly about surviving and not killing off enemies before the Ultimate gauge is ready.

I once tried it with a main deck that focused on attacks and buffs, and a sub deck meant for replenishing the Ultimate gauge. The problem was that I didn’t equip any attack cards in the sub deck and the defensive buffs would run out before I could switch back. It really didn’t help I didn’t have any auto-abilities with Job Change Recast in the Ultimate recovery set. 😛

Hmmm. I can also chance switching to the sub deck when the Mighty Golem is in the Break phase since it has cards with Brave and Faith. I guess I’ll give this a try. ^^~

Oh, I almost forgot to write about the exciting adventures in Chapter 6 Part 2. XD

It’s all under the cut. 😀 Continue reading “Mobius Final Fantasy JP – A Troublesome Job Quest for the Mage and Mini Annoyances in Chapter 6 Part 2”

Mobius Final Fantasy JP – The Beautiful Steam Version

Some screenshots, thoughts about the Windows version, and a gameplay video~!

  • The store page is region locked to Japan meaning that you need an IP address from Japan to access it. I took a look through it via VPN to see if it mentioned game pad support and it does but it’s not supported. Neither is touchscreen.
    .
As far as I can tell, using the mouse is the only way to get around, but you can exit the game with the ESC key on the keyboard. Actually, I don’t believe there’s any other way to close the game other than with that or Alt-F4.

Mobius Final Fantasy - Two sections of the game's store page on Steam
Two parts of the store page. ^^ This is the link to the page: http://store.steampowered.com/app/504730/. Again, it will not show up if your IP address is not from Japan.
  • The game data sharing option didn’t go as smoothly as I liked. I generated the one-time password from my iPad mini 2, but the Steam version refused to accept it. I tripled checked the letters and numbers since I still had the password on the tablet screen. No mistakes were made when inputting it so I have no idea why it kept giving me an error. Generating a new password worked though.
    .
  • As the title of this post indicates, it’s beautiful. Here are some samples. The screenshots are in 1680×1050 which is my desktop resolution. Kind of old school based on today’s standards, I know:

    Shiny Echo. *_*
This was taken from my temporary account when I was trying out the Steam version. ^^
Mobius FInal Fantasy - Close up of the Risk Taker
    This high definiton quality. *_*
Mobius FInal Fantasy - Mog (Steam version)
    Mog TT

    Maybe it’s not impressive to some since their mobile devices already display the game in gorgeous quality but this is a step up from what I’m used to seeing on my iPad mini 2. In fact, after a few hours of playing the game on my computer, it’s hard to look at the mobile version. ^^;

    Two comparison screencaps:

Mobius Final Fantasy - Comparison between iPad mini 2 and Steam graphics
Left is from the iPad mini 2. Right is from the Steam version.
The details and texture on is much sharper on the PC version.
Mobius Final Fantasy - Comparison between iPad mini 2 and Steam graphics

One thing I noticed was that the Skirmisher/Survivor STILL wore a black void as a suit even in higher resolution. But if you rotated the model a bit to get lighting onto the blackness, you can kind of see some contrast.

Mobius Final Fantasy - Survivor/Skirmisher Steam version
    Completely black. D:

At the present time, the game can be installed through https://steamdb.info/app/504730/info/ without the use of VPN.

DISCLAIMER: Attempt this at your own risk. There’s every possibility the game is still region locked to Japan and Steam doesn’t really like people from other countries accessing things not meant for their own region. For everyone looking to know how to share the save data from their mobile game with the Windows one, the Square Enix Presents stream from yesterday had a slide about that. 😀

Mobius Final Fantasy - Game Data Sharing
The process is the same for all platforms. You can do the reverse too and move the Windows game data to mobile.

Seeing that the game loads and plays without issue, it seems like Square Enix just opted to make the store page fixed to the Japan region. The game isn’t doesn’t check for your location. This isn’t to say it won’t change in the future though.

Come to think of it, I think in-app purchases are still restricted to Japan. I’m unsure of this though.

Please note that purchased Magicite/Magic Stones (魔石 – the premium currency) doesn’t transfer between different operating systems. Magicite received through maps, login bonuses, daily missions, etc. will.

An English version of Mobius Final Fantasy Steam/Windows version is currently unavailable.
