The map’s a bit inaccurate (in regards to the beginning of what this log covers) since I ran around a bit in the Forest of Spore before taking it so the actual percentage prior entering the forest was 82.4%.

Edit on Oct 15: Screencaps added~!
- You know, I’m either missing an obvious entrance point or this is the most roundabout way to get to the blue flag (the story quest location). I mean, I went through the Forest of Ash, went to The Inn of Frogs, and then double-backed through Ash to the Forest of Spore. But all these locations surround the place I’m supposed to go to. 9__9 Well, I don’t really mind since I enjoy exploring and the battle system. 😀
. - Now, before I get into the Forest of Spore (胞子の森), I did the following:
.
– Visited Shiryu in Selray to complete the quest. The weapon ended up being called the Cruel Axe.
.
– Reinforced a short sort due to a suggestion made here. It honestly is a cheap alternative to upgrade weapon BUT it’s so sooooooooo time consuming. It doesn’t help that Falcom makes it so you can only select a single material with each reinforcement “session”. I eventually stopped and decided to look for more materials to use. ^^ Edit on Oct 15: I wrote up an entry for it, you can find it here.
.
– Visited the Jade Cave (翡翠の洞窟) again since there were some things I wanted from there. Oddly enough, I discovered a location I missed earlier and it had a red chest too! In contained a Scale Armor 改 +2. (Not sure how to translate 改 as other than “Revision”.)
.
– Later, I went to the Ancient Underground Ruin for easy material farming and was pulling off Skill Finishes like crazy with Ozma against the slug-like enemies. Since the enemies were strong against his attack type/weapon type, they kept multiplying so every skill attack ended up being multiple Skill Finishes. Totally raking in bonus spoils! ^^ (Actually, this backtracking is just another excuse to put in some hours of using a character I don’t like using to get a trophy. :P)
.
Edit on October 15: Kekeke. I even did a video recording of it. XD
.
– I went back to Highland to take pretty pictures. Here’s one and here’s another. It looks so much better without the thunder barrier affecting the climate and all!
. - All right. It’s time for some forests with spores or something. The place is pretty linear and has a lot of things you can destroy with the claw artifact/tool. You get a tiny bit of SP from all the flora that you mow down here. Anyway, the first chest here contains Coal (石炭) x 100, the second chest in the area has a Panacea of Power (力の霊薬), and the last chest that I found which was just before a waystone had an Engima Troche (エニグマトローチ).
. - A waystone before an exit usually means there’s a boss battle or some important encounter of sorts coming up.
. - A-yup. A boss battle, indeed. I thought I would need an anti-poison charm for this but I didn’t! Ah yes, like a few of the bosses before, this one changes pattern and form a bit when its HP reaches a certain point.
.
LOL! Party members kept hacking away at the boss at the end of the fight even though it was in the process of exploding. ^^
. - Aw man! Turns out I loaded up an earlier game so I didn’t get that chest in the Jade Cave yet. 😦
. - I just dropped by the 木濡れ日の遺跡 part of the Forest of Dawn to see if the G. Pikkard was there AND IT WAS. I was laughing through it all since it was so difficult to hit! The thing kept zooming all over the place. I was hoping to keep it cornered but the other members kept fighting other enemies. 9__9 I think the party didn’t get it down halfway before it jet. 😦
. - NOOOO. It was at the eastern waystone area as well! I wonder if I should use the Hurricane Boots next time. Oh. I never knew that, if you briefly depress the X button while dashing with the boots equipped, you can drift a little and then continue dashing when you press the X again. This is useful for changing directions. ^^
. - Ugh. I can never locate its western location. Crazy zippy pikkard.
. - Back in the Forest of Spore and beyond the boss area. The red memory fragment is behind a bunch of dead tree things. OMG! It’s THEM! ^o^~~! Man, I wonder if this scene will be translated upon a second playthrough? :X I mean, come on, runes. (Yes, I know I can look them up but meh.) Oh wow. There’s a big one too! X_X Adol gains STR +1 after this!
. - Ooh. New area! The Ancient Battlefield of Colonia! (コロニア古戦場) There’s a bit of conversation at the start of this place revolving around its history and Lefance.
. - There are a few forks but I opted to go all the way east and then follow the route north. It leads to an exit so I’m going to go back to the other paths. Ugh. There’s an annoying giant upright boar creature called Poggarof (ポガロフ). It’s got a wide area attack. -__-; Oh, this path U-shaped so I ended up back at the entrance. 😛 But there was also an exit up north so I’ll take that instead of the east one since that leads to the blue flag.
. - Canlilica has this skill to summon two orb things. It totally reminds me of the Hugo’s Eyes of Fact from Ys Origin. Not sure what they do but since it’s a lightning-based skill (well, there’s lightning in its name), I guess they shoot bolts of lightning? I guess I can try it now. Oh, they just physically go after enemies when she attacks.
. - This zone is quite large and has a lot of harvest points. (Er, screenshot was taken after getting all the chests XD) My roaming around has brought up 2 chests on the mini map but I’m not going to them yet since the southern area still needs to be uncovered.
. - Guh. Got into a battle with 3 Poggarofs at once. X_X It was one large one with two smaller ones. ^^
. - Looks like there are 4 chests in total: one in the south & one west (red chest) on the bottom half of the map and one west and one east (red chest) in the upper region.
. - Woo! Up to 90.4% explored! There’s an exit up north! I shall go there~!
. - Waystone in next zone! Uh. There’s this level 45 creature guarding a door to a structure. Do I want to fight it? Bloody thing! It IS the door!? I mean, it’s sticking out of it. And it also have wide area attacks. Sigh.
. - Duh. It won’t die right now so I guess this is the entrance to the final dungeon or something? Off to the main quest area it is then.
. - Back in the first region of the Battlefield and heading to the east exit. Ooh. Waystone there. Possibly a boss awaits? Hmm~ Ah, not yet, just discussion. And it’s a new area called The Ruin of Eleduk (廃都エルドゥーク).
. - Ooh. Giant Roda Tree. Ha. Got a trophy for reaching Eleduk. Hmm. Seems like there’s guards in front of the Temple of the Sun.
. - < spoiler >A familiar face appears!< /spoiler > And then the guards in front of the temple take off on his orders. Now’s the chance to check it out! But I refuse! I want to explore instead! Or not. You’re forced to go to it. ^^
. - There are still guards on the other two sides. >:/
. - In front of the door to the temple and …. Adol and Dulen try to open it. XD Of course, they’re just wasting energy. Canlilica (I think — I wasn’t paying attention ^^) wonders where Riesa is and Frida asks Nina but Nina’s all meh. However, Frida with her special kind of “Please” that makes it hard for Nina to say no. ^^ Ozma notes something about Frida and Nina but I’m not sure what it is. ^^~ More stuff follows and then the villains appear~!
. - < spoiler >The party is knocked to the ground and paralyzed by bolts of lightning from above. Evil!Eldeel appears and Gruhda presents him with the Mask of the Sun. After putting on the Mask, Evil!Eldeel goes to the door and opens it. Turns out the Mask was the key. All the villains then stroll into the temple. The door closes after them.< /spoiler >
. - Now to find a way into the temple or something. When you head back down, a Roo hops by but only Carna notices. However, when Canlilica asks her what’s wrong, she claims that she was just imagining things. I think Dulen says that they should investigate and you’re forced to go after it.
. - What the? They enter the Roda Tree(?) and a mysterious voice is suddenly heard. I think Frida and Canlilica blame Dulen for fooling around. ^^;
. - Oh. It seems like the blue flag marks this location and not the temple.
. - Now at The Roos’ Nest (ルーの住み処) but there’s much conversation before you can even try and speak to the Roos. X_X Canlilica thinks they’re cute. ^^; (I missed the little heart emote she had. :/)
. - Ha. I expected the merchandise from the shop keeper to be listed in runes too. XD I find the roos to be kind of creepy in this game but the children are kind of cute looking. Here’s one from the front. Not as cute. 😦
. - Ahaha. The one sleeping in the tree hole. It’ll open its eyes and talk to you and then promptly closes them and continues to sleep afterward. ^^ I’m almost curious to see what funny Engrish dialogue they have in this game. I think it’s a tradition that the runes, when translated, are actually English words and not romaji.
. - Heh. Giant roo gets a bottom-to-top panning shot. ^^ Erk. Its name is “Gran Roo”. ^^ …… I think it ends a lot of what it’s telling the party with something like “As told by/So speaketh the Roda Tree.” Ah, I think they just learned that there’s a counter(?) to the Mask of the Sun called the Mask of the Moon. Something about combining them makes some sort of a key? Dulen asks where the Mask of the Moon is located but Gran Roo doesn’t know. There seems to be two possible locations … as told by the Roda Tree. After a little bit more, Gran Roo goes to sleep. ^^
. - The places that were mentioned are northeast of Eleduk. The Roo Shop has new weapons and armour but I don’t want to reinforce stuff again. Need money.
. - There’s a gold chest that’s been teasing me for a while since the game would never let me go east. 😛 It contains the Sacred Beast Bangle (聖魔の腕輪) which allows you to understand the Roos. OMG! It’s not just that! It’ll TURN you into a Roo too. ^o^ Here’s a screenshot of Ozma (in the middle), Adol, and Canlilica as Roos. ^O^~ And here are Dulen (in the middle), Carna, and Frida. ^____^~~
. - !!! Speaking to Miroo (it’s the tiny Roo in the room where the Gran Roo is) while in Roo-form will get you a red fragment memory~! It shows two of those explorers that you encounter around Celceta. I think these were the two that were arguing in the Misty Summit? Totally ignoring what they’re saying. XD Adol gets DEF +1.
. - …. What the? < spoiler >Just spotted Michey on my way out of the nest. Gonna add this to the list in Log #12. You get to speak to Michey too! ^^ He rewards you with 2 x Emerald, Topaz, Ruby, Amethyst, Onyx, and Diamond. Yay! Trophy get!< /spoiler >
. - Exploring The Suburbs of Eleduk (エルドゥーク近郊) as roos. XD Actually, I attacked some enemies and then put on the Bangle. They continued attacking though. 😦 All the other ones were fine. XD I can’t talk to any of them though and memory fragments can’t be touched either. :(:
. - Northeast exit in the northeast zone leads to Lake Tolemes. There’s a nice look building in a distance. Even Canlilica is impressed. 😛 Activated the waystone. Heading to Highland now to upgrade the new magic artifact. :3 It only increases movement speed. 😦
. - Oh goody. Since it’s after a story quest was completed, things probably changed in some of the towns and villages. Heading to Selray first to get tickles from Momocha … and there are some soldiers there. And a new quest too!
. - In Casnan now. XD Got lots of money from Griselda since I didn’t go back to her earlier. XD Stopping log here.
I was stuck there and I never noticed the North east exit of Eleduk. Thanks a lot for this Ys Celceta blog 😀
You’re very welcome. I’m glad my ramblings help people. ^^
