This log will be updated until 12 AM EDT (North America Time). Check back every now and then for possible updates! I’m typically asleep from 1 AM – 10 AM and usually don’t get to playing until the evening. ^^
This particular log reads somewhat like a really vague walkthrough. ^^
Here’s the usual map update:

Also, about to embark on these:

- That side quest shown in the screenshot above requires you to go to the top floor of Comodo and speak to the Lindsay. After some chatting (and maybe some correct conversation choices?), Adol gets into a mock duel against Dulen. I have no idea if you receive anything if Adol loses but I got a reward from both Lindsay and her friend for besting Dulen.
.. - The beast hunt quest pits you up against this bastard. It pretty much fights like the giant blue level 18 monster at the entrance area of the Forest of Dawn. Since I am horrible at Flash this and that, I just used hit and run tactics. As there was no waystone nearby for this fight, I ended up using some potions to survive it.
. - You know, I think Griselda tasked Dulen and Adol to go around exploring Celceta or something because if you head back to Casnan after a bit of running around, she’ll reward you with some money. (I suppose that’s why you’re given the map at the start of the game. Being illiterate kind of sucks when it comes to trying to understand plot and dialogue. :P)
. - Anyway, after I finished up all the quests, I went back to the せせらぎの道 part of the forest and headed northwest. This eventually leads you to the Misty Summit (霧ヶ峰). The solution to this maze is this: east, east, south, southwest (there should be a harvest point for minerals/metals), southwest, and then go northwest of the waystone. In fact, here’s a shaky cam vid of it:
- After that part, the duo make camp and Adol has a dream again. Another memory fragment point appears on the map.
. - The Algon Valley is lovely! *__* Sure, the visuals look like they were done with stippling but it still looks nice to me. ^^ Oh, you can even look down below! The animation for the monsters from that distance was hilarious since there was evident frameskipping and general choppiness.
. - Not much to say about this area except that it has a nice waterfall (there’s a chest on the other side) and some ruins. I have a feeling that we’ll get the magic artifact that’ll let the party go underwater here. There’s not much to do inside of it except swim around a little. ^^
. - Finally, we reached another town! Adol and friend get the same warm welcome as they did in Comodo here. 😛 And again, they get shown to some “private quarters”. Oh yeah, the dialogue is probably different depending on whether or not you went to Comodo first. Dulen kept referencing their experience when they first reached that village so I’d imagine he wouldn’t do it if Selray was your first stop.
. - The convenient memory fragment here triggers another playable flashback. …. Every time I see the name “Ozma”, I think of the Final Fantasy IX optional boss. >_>
. - Aww. The baby Spada is cute. ^o^ In fact, “Cute” was the dialogue choice I chose. ^^; Ah, at the end of the flashback, Adol get DEF +1.
. - LOL! Dulen yaps a bit and then Ozma asks Adol if the man beside him was his friend. Your choices are: “He’s a friend” or “I don’t know this person”. ^O^;;;;;; I opted for to not be a jerk about it so I chose the “friend” one.
. - D’oh. Ozma’s just following the guys around and not an actual party member. 😦
. - Swimming around Selray just because.
. - Oh hey, I can bother an abnormally large frog. I wonder what I can feed it so I can get some fur from it? …. Eh? The goose gave me something that’s NOT fur! I suppose the food doesn’t matter since I didn’t give it anything different than the other animals.
. - Okay, I’m guessing a little bit about the story part in Selray: it seems like the waters in the surrounding area are poisoned and fish are kind of dying out or just unavailable to catch since they’re dying out or staying away.
. - What the? There’s a tavern just north of the couple that the party speaks to in the square (the area with the flower bed arranged in a circle) and the little girl there will fill your SP and EXTRA gauge if you select the top option. Edit: Oh, she just asks you to play with her or something. The sound effect … Edit #2 (on Oct 10): Ah, the girl tickles you. Just peeked at the Trophy requirements and you can get one from this character. Her name is モモチャ (Momocha), BTW. Aww, you can’t repeatedly play with her. Boo. I wonder if exiting Selray and coming back in works? Dammit. Nope. 😦
. - Bah. The pikkards still give me fur. >:/
. - Haha. Encountered a guy named Gazok. He tells Adol that it’s been a while since they last saw each other. There’s a dialogue choice that pops up and I chose the bottom one which just has Adol say “Nice to meet you”. Gazok goes about introducing himself but abruptly stops since he thinks Adol’s playing around. XD
. - I believe I can’t leave without speaking to all the necessary NPCs.
Ah, just found the last one. I think there’s 4 in total (counting the couple as one). Well, if this isn’t the case then speaking to everyone in Selray should do the trick. 😛
. - Ugh. Looks like there’s a quiz about all the facts after. >_> Correct answers are all bottom choices, it seems. But then, I think Dulen will keep questioning you until you get the right ones. ^^
. - Ridin’ on the Spadas~~ Oh, Adol. Why is the alternate choice always something goofy? When the party spots the water turning red, Adol can either ask if it’s the poison or be in awe at the c0lour. >_>
. - Yay. Ozma’s finally in the party. Time to go explore them ruins. But first! Let’s get some more of Adol’s memories back. 😀 It seems to be a continuation of the Adol and Ozma on Spadas bit. STR +1 gained!
- Aw man, Ozma’s kind of hard to use but he’s got a Defense Up buff ability that affects allies in the immediate vicinity!
. - Exploring the northern part of the Algon Valley right now and whoops. Ran into a lv 22 Crocles. ^^
. - Oh yeah, there’s an option to fuse weapons (of the same kind) together now.
. - Ozma’s Personal Action is to break barriers in water?
(Screenshots will be coming soon for the chunk of text below.)
. - The Sacred Beasts’ Nest … This place kind of reminds me of the Ruins of Amnesia from Ys VI but it’s probably more like that water temple from Ys SEVEN. Bleh. The entire bottom area needs to be drained. Anyway, taking the north route first.
. - Totally raiding this room full of treasure chests. Dulen time! Stone fragment #1 get!
. - West area — Went north first. Ozma poked through the wall and now the eastern stairs in the main area are accessible? Going to check out the south before heading back out there though. Hmmm. Just some enemies and a broken floor. Seemingly a dead end though.
. - Swimming to those stairs now. One little island with a chest can be reached. (Or maybe we could have gotten it before? ^^) Some Heal Troche (ヒールトローチ) thing. I think it’s a consumable item that can restore HP over a period of time.
. - Next zone has yet another wall to be destroyed by Ozma. Wall also leads to a balcony which has a Dulen chest which contained the Silver Axe (銀の斧). It raises the chances of getting rare items. There’s also this small pool of water that leads north but there’s no way to get past the wall yet. Tried using the magic artifact that makes the party small but it didn’t help. Oh, the boulder that dropped is in the western side with the broken floor.
. - Another wall has been felled! Ozma and Dulen == Dogi? D: Another staircase to climb! Waystone! Boss! Fight was so easy I didn’t even bother trying not to get hit. ^^
. - Shiny chest has been spotted! I predict this artifact will allow some for underwater exploration! And I was right. XD
. - Underwater red chest has a Power Ring I. Went through the hole in the northern wall that I wasn’t able to before. There are some mean level 16 creatures here. Can’t seem to proceed to the part below?? Going back to the other areas with ponds of water.
. - Went back to the place where the hole in the wall lead to the Silver Axe. Pissing off a lot of fish around here. ^^ There’s another exit in this underwater portion but I’m going south first … which leds to a bridge. Halfway across it is a stupid lv 16 purple toad enemy. Backtracking to the previous place with all the fish and going through the hole there.
. - Damnation! It’s a fork in the road. I’ll take the right path then.
This led to a Dulen chest. Ahahaha. Hit triangle to open it but because an enemy was lunging at Dulen, he Flash Guarded instead. ^^ Stone fragment #2 get! Now for the left path.
. - Ozma poke time once again. Gah! It’s a trio of Beavarums surrounding a chest. ^^ And they call in their friends too. >_>Beat them all to get the chest to reappear. They were hogging 2 Sapphires. D: Now to the bridge!
. - Oooh. Cool underwater bit in the next area. There’s currents going east and south which will push you back. You can swim above them to get by. :3 (Actually, I think it’s stay near the floor first and then go up for the second bit of horiztontal currents.) Ozma stab! I think this is a trick one again. I’m just going to bust two of the rocks. >_> I think it’s on the right level now so I should be able to get onto the other side. …. But the chest is still showing in the vicinity of the rocks. I’ll explore the east first before reducing their numbers.
. - More swimming and another fork. Left one has a current so right side it is. Spikey enemies explode when they’re hit.
The chest here has a Power Troche. Next zone has three large monsters and 2 harvest points. Heading north again. Yay. Stone door and waypoint. Exit to the east leads to that area that I said I couldn’t get down to. Ozma can topple the pillar which creates a shortcut back to the flooded area with stairs.
. - I have a feeling I’m missing a stone fragment … and I am. >_> Gonna try that left route with the current again. Ah! There’s areas to the left and right to dodge the currents. 😀 There we go. Stone fragment #3! To the door we go~~ Kicking fish to death.
. - Touch puzzle is still dumb and easy. Ugh. It’s like Falcom included it just for the sake of making use of the touch screen.
. - Ergh. Dumb boss. Hope the next part of the fight is on land. Zuh. Was doing piddly damage to it until it was stunned.
. - Awww. Cute little Spada~ But who would harm it? TT
. - Whoa. Tense moment there but little Spada saves the day. And now, evil laughter! Second villain appears!
. - NOOOOOOOOOOO. I think I have to reload to get that chest cuz I’m back at Selray now. >_< No idea if I’ll be able to go back there later on with Ozma. Siiiiigh. Brain fart. Why didn’t I save after the boss battle? 9__9 Ahahaha. If you bust the last stone, a pile of them come back down. Anyway, the red chest contains a Skill Ring I.
. - Just beat up the enemies outside the stone door but now Dulen and Ozma are running around in circles. >_> I can switch between all the characters but the two AI ones always go back to the same spot and zip around and around.
. - Woo! Got the Flash Move trophy. Did it a few times during this replay against the fish boss. Nice. No potions needed this around. (Used them in the underwater part though. ^^)
. - Back at Selray. Quests are open! And I can probably go all over the Forest of Dawn to crack open those water chests now.
. - Ugh. This shopkeeper side quest. XD I hope I’m doing this right. Well, I cleared it and Ray gave the party a crap ton of stuff. The reward came with a (上) attached at the end so does that mean I did really well? ^^ I mean, he was really really thankful for Adol’s help. I took screenshots of all the red text that Dulen was acknowledging from the shopkeeper (but not the stuff Ray was saying himself ^^) but the little girl customer messed me up. I ended up picking the top choice (まけられない) and then the 30 G option that came afterward. I served a total of 3 customers.
. - Finally fed the frog after doing the quest for the girl next to it. Got a Honey Potion.
. - Out doing the beast quest. In some area of the western section of the Forest of Dawn with lots of flying enemies and evil plants. Wish I had someone with the pierce or whatever weapon attribute. Stupid flying enemies are strong to punches and slashes. Got a Dulen chest. Got some Axe Tail (アックステイル) x3.
. - Holy crap. What’s with the slowdown here? Rolling past all enemies to get to the chests in the north area. Ooh. There’s a red chest with a muffler of sorts. Walk, run, or roll to get SP. XD
. - Wow. I think the game is out to get you. The path right before the beast has a bunch of flowers and flying enemies waiting.
. - Yes! Defeated it! Edit: D’oh! This wasn’t it. ^^; Correct info is further below!
Heading southwest to nab the contents of the red chest! It’s a Power Ring II and that damn bird below is ready to fire off a water beam at Adol. ^^ Or not. But he moves close enough it’ll start poking him … through the cliff. What the? I had the party standing around to heal and then a giant boar enemy respawned in a distance and started charging toward them. ^^ Heading northeast of this place.
. - Ugh. Lots of lv 17+ enemies and many boars!! Rolled away from everything to get to a chest on the west side. ^^ (It had a gold ingot or something.) Oh! The north exit connects back to the other place that was blocked by a tree stump! Now to roll all the way back down for the memory fragment. X_X Northeast chest had some red crystals. Dulen’s crescent kick thing does wonders on the boars cuz it prevents them from attacking. (It only works when they’re not already poised to charge.) Actually, it probably works well on a lot of enemies but I never noticed it before. 😛
. - At the memory fragment now. Happy memories of Selray~! HP +10!
. - Now backtracking for all the chests around the eastern region of the forest. :3 EH!? What’s this glowing orange thing? Is it a pikkard? Sure moves fast! You can attack it but it has high defense so all attacks only do 1 HP of damage.
. - Buh, random people at the first camp site. Whoa. Wait. I never finished the last Selray quest. Ergh. Dur. Never noticed that it was supposed to be inside a cave. >_> Ahaha. Doing Flash Guarding with the enemies here. XD Great place to use to get the trophy. Yay! Finished my 50 Flash Guards. :3 What I did was kill off all but one of the Lavady (ラバディ) and just let it continuously attack Adol or Dulen. The timing is fairly easy to react to when it’s the one enemy. ^^
. - The quest was actually to defeat multiple giant spiders. Very easy battle if you use skills to constantly flip them upside down. 😀
