Ys Celceta Log #2

All day updates! (Well, depending on how much I play and stuff). Cut-off time will be 12 AM EDT (North America time). Links lead to screencaps. 😀

  • The freakin’ Langriz (ラングリズ) was a level 8 monster; 3 levels above my characters. Took a while to defeat since I didn’t bother refining weapons or even checking if I could afford new ones before leaving the city. XD Just kept rolling and attacking from behind whenever it leapt forward. I’m sure good players could Flash Guard and Flash Move the hell out of the thing. :\ Anyway, that’s 2 quests down. Just gotta get more stupid ores and one more of those Honey Potions. …. Wait, why didn’t I just buy those? Reading fail. I thought the guy wanted the expensive Bitter Potions. >___>
    .
  • *facepalm* COMPLETELY forgot that the party could heal while standing still in the plains. I suppose it doesn’t work inside dungeons? I can’t remember.
    .
  • Here’s the map of Beast’s Party Plain so far. Not sure if the area beyond the waystone will be a part of it as well. Only 8% covered so far? Celceta, y u so big?

  • Heading back to Casnan to get my quest rewards. Ah. The waystone at the mine is inaccessible via warp.
    .
  • Woo! Got a big red “CLEAR!” stamp for the bartender’s quest. I wonder if conversation choices have any consequences or effect on character relationships? Ah well. Now to talk to Luruka or whatever.
    .
  • WTF? Wallace (the soldier) just drinks the Honey Potion like a regular drink. ^^;;;;; Well, he’s free to do whatever he wants with it since I gots me some Bitter Potions now! (I have no idea how to translate ビター)
    .
  • Since I got some money from the quests in the bar, I used some of it to purchase new armor~ It doesn’t look like I was able to afford anything after the mine but reinforcing would have been an option then. Speaking of which, I’m gonna see how many ores I can exchange for my rocks. …………. 10 rocks for 1 ore. I can only get 2 ores. XD This isn’t faring very well. I need 11 more for the quest. Time to head back out into the plains. 😛 Randomly reinforced my weapons since I’m not buying new ones. Attack went up +1. Yay. But hey, it only cost 20 G and 2 bars of ore (I had 4).
    .
  • Feeding random flowers and apples to animals around the city. None of them like any of the things I’m giving them. 😦
    .
  • Went back into Casnia Mine. Nothing of interest. Beat some rocks and stuff out from the harvest points though.
    .
  • Oh hey, I can set up camp now … or are they fixed locations? Seems like the game now takes the time of day into consideration?
    .
  • Ah, entered the Forest of Dawn now and there’s a little explanation of the time change thing and status effects. Seems like the time thing happens within the …. sea of trees.
    .
  • Suddenly, Sonic Slide for Adol has been obtained! AAAAAAAAAAH. WTF? Level 18 monster to the east of the waystone! GO AWAY!!! (LOL. Only did 4 HP of damage to it with one hit. XD)
    .
  • Man, it’s hard to fight in water. :/ Oh hey, Adol Personal Action time! OMG. This is so cute!*_____*
Ys Celceta - Little Adol. ^o^~
    So cute. ^o^~~

Eh? Strength went up by 1? ^^ AAAAAAAH. WHAT THE HELL? After watching the little memory bit, I reached over to grab the Vita cable and then, all of a sudden, those scorpion-like enemies swarmed Adol and Dulen. X__x Luckily, I moved them away in time to evade attacks. ^^

  • Damn, water enemies are smart! They run back into water when you go up onto land. Bastards. Anyway, got me a Shield Ring. :3 Alas, I have to choose who to equip it on.  Let’s stick it on Dulen since his DEF is lower than Adol’s (by 1).
    .
  • Kind of thinking I should have started the game on Easy so I can get through it a bit faster. ^^ (Playing on Normal.)
    .
  • Ugh. Trying to get a chest in the water but I think there will probably be a point later on where the water can be drained (or the party can go underwater) since it’s not accessible at the moment. Bah. Just came across another one in another area.
    .
  • Looks like the closest memory points are marked on the overworld map. :O Anyway, found another one. It’s Adol Time! Got Defense +1 from this. :3
    .
  • Ahaha. Found a White Snake Amulet (白蛇の護符) AFTER Adol got poisoned. That was the first time he got hit by poison too. ^^
    .
  • This next area looks nice. Apparently, it’s some ruins of some sort. There’s a chest at the top of the thing but I think I’ll explore around outside first. Just because.
    .
  • Man, I really hate the enemies around here. But hey, found Gauntlet[s] +2 for Dulen. Sweet. Now to keep on heading west. Incidentally, the weapon can inflict poison and/or freeze on enemies.
    .
  • FINALLY. A waystone. Glad I found this place because we got some serious status ailments going on. HP won’t regenerate with paralysis. :/ (And it should be a no brainer about the poison hindering HP recovery.)
    .
  • Well, instead of continuing south, I decided to return to Casnan. Actually, before that, I’ll just spend some time with that level 18 monster for fun. Hit and run attacks seem to work all right — i.e. keep running back to the waystone. Managed to accidentally trigger some Flash Moves. HHhrrrgggh. Got it down to less than 1/4 HP and got BOUNCED to the south into the next zone. >__> Oh yeah, during all this craziness, I managed Adol’s third skill. Dulen’s 1st skill levelled up too. And some time before this, I got Dulen’s second skill, I think. Okei, back to town we go.
    .
  • Hey, since I picked up some new flowers, grass stuff, and such, let’s try feeding the animals again. XD Yay! The horse seems to like the young leaves stuff  (second option) and the dog liked the nut (チトの実). I forgot to screencap that one and didn’t want to reload since the last save was a while back. 9__9
    .
  • Now to finish the remaining quest since I picked up a crap ton of rocks and iron ores. And with selling off the iron ore, I now have over 10,000 gold. Time to spend it on upgrades. Picked up the Long Sabre for Adol since no gloves the weapons shop is selling beats the Gauntlets that Dulen’s equipped with.
    .
  • Huh. I was blind the last time I did the reinforcing but it turns out different ingots (which I previously referred to as bars) have different effects. The Iron Ingot just boosts Attack +1 while the Silver Ingot increases Attack +3. Notice the numbers next to the sword icon in the list of attributes shown with each one.
    .
  • Looks like the limit for recovery items is 99. I haven’t really used potions much in the game so far. Saving them for boss fights. XD
    .
  • It took until now for me to realize that waystones were colour-coded and that you can only teleport between the ones that have the same colour and in the same region.
    .
  • Backtracked to the area with the chest in the middle of a small pool of water since I never continued northward. (I’m going after the memory fragment/light thing.) This new area has BGM that starts off in a similar way as Chrono Trigger’s Corridors of Time. :0 Ugh. Why so many stupid nut and poison spewing flowers!?
    .
  • Wow. What a beautiful view of the woodlands below. *__* And there’s a waterfall here too!  Wish I could move the camera around. I don’t believe I can. ^^ Here we go. Memory fragment. It’s another childhood flashback. Awww. The image wasn’t as cute as the other one. The reward for viewing this one is Max HP increase of 10~! …. And I always forget that enemies in the immediate area have respawned. 9__9
    .
  • Wandering to the spot north just north of where the memory fragment was wasn’t the greatest of ideas. The enemies here are all level 18 but! There’s a chest with a, um, Blue Shuttlecock Decoration?? (蒼の羽根飾り) The item lets you get SP instead of life energy from an Aerial Combo. I think.
    .
  • All this exploration … and I end up crossing paths with 2 of those blue lv. 18 axe-wielding monsters. 9___9 Slashed madly at the nearby harvest point and ran off to the west. XD But this next zone is a dead end so I gotta head back. ;;_;;
    .
  • All right, I’m at the せせらぎの道 area now. What the? Those blue spider enemies are weak to punch or whatever but they have such high defense. >:/ And man, plant enemies in the water. Blargh. Oh come on, damn spiders chase after you in water.  Ah, seems like you can’t replenish HP while wading around.
    .
  • There’s a whole area to the south but it doesn’t seem accessible from the river? Heading east instead. Ended up at the Woods of Strays. …………. Is this a maze? >_> Oh, just follow the flower harvest points. ^^ The correct patch is this: From the entrance area with Leo and the soldiers, go east, then north, then west, then south. Finally, you should get to this place with a statue with light shining upon it:
Ys Celceta - Woods of Strays Exit
Once you reach this area, head east.

There’s a harvest point at the east side so go that way. :3 You’ll be back in the Forest of Dawn but on the other side. 😀 Time to build a tent!
